David Bodansky expert hand surgeon ranked first in Europe in theatre

About me

I am a specialist hand and wrist orthopaedic surgeon, dedicated to helping people return quickly and safely to the activities that matter most—whether that’s daily life, hobbies, or high-level sport. My approach is simple: understand how your problem affects you, and provide the most effective treatment to restore your hand and wrist function.

Each year I care for more than 3,000 patients, performing around 500 operations—but the majority of my patients are treated successfully without surgery, using tailored, evidence-based non-surgical solutions.

My training took place in some of the world’s leading centres for hand and wrist surgery, including Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Wrightington Hospital, East Grinstead Hospital, and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. I also trained in Liverpool, London, and North America, completing advanced fellowship programmes in both adult and children’s hand surgery.

I was ranked first in Europe in the European Hand Diploma examination—the specialist qualification undertaken by consultant hand surgeons. Along the way, I have been awarded over 30 medical prizes and had the privilege of representing the British Hand Society in Ethiopia, teaching local surgeons about managing hand injuries.

My commitment to patient care is reflected in being awarded the ‘I Want Great Care’ Certificate of Excellence in 2023, 2024, and 2025—an award voted for by patients and colleagues in recognition of outstanding care.
